Installing a deisel engine in an ‘83 chevy suburban. I live in Cali. Is there an emissions test i must pass?

IS there an emissions test that must be performed? If so, what is it called and where can I get it done?

i dont live there but i do know that cali is strict on their imissions. you will be ok untill its time for inspection because they wont know that u changed the motor. but then, if you fail you will have a certain amount of time to get it right. dont quote me on it, but im sure thats how it is.

no test for diesels but because of you VIN number in DMV you will need to check with them first to see if they will allow and change your registration accordingly.

Your VIN will show up as a gas engine. So when it’s time to register it they will require a smog check at some time. You need to contact the DMV to see what will need to be done because there is no way it will pass a smog check for a gas engine.
