My car needs an emissions test this year, but will it pass if the engine has a bad bearing on it? I know it’s a bad bearing, because after a few minutes of driving the car, it starts to make this strange wailing noise.
assuming its a bearing, IF it even makes it to etest, that shouldnt affect the outcome of the test but you should get that fixed it could let go at anytime
Emissions testing question?
Will an O2 sensor delete on a 98 mustang gt make it pass emissions testing?
i have a 98 gt 4.6..if i put an o2 sensor delete kit on my car and it makes the check engine light go off bc it is blocking the codes to the computer would it pass a Tn state emissions test??
nope…..well maybe…not supposed to because the scan is supposed to test the sensors…but might fall thro the cracks….
Will you fail emissions test if there is one code in the computer?
My check engine light is not on and all monitors are ready. There is one P0128 code in the computer. Will this computer clear itself out if the condition no longer exists? Will I fail an emissions test just as is?
if the Check engine light is OFF you are passing emissions. Your P0128 code is just a stored code from an event that happened apparently.
heres what happened and why you got a P0128

How to pass emissions test by running alchol?
ive heard i can pass the emissions test by mixing my gas with alchol. how exactly do i do this.
what kind of alchol, where can i get it, and how much alchol to gas ratio.
Most gasoline already has alcohol mixed in, it’s called ethanol, and you cannot run too much or it will ruin the engine, unless the car is designed for the "flex fuel".
Add to much alcohol and the engine will not run correctly resulting in the check engine light being on, and no pass the test.
Does the owner of the car have to be the one present at the emissions testing?
In other words, can I do the emissions testing for a car under my dad’s name? We live in Washington state.
I just realized the top and bottom questions have contradicting answers, so please clarify which you’re saying yes or no to. Otherwise, I’ll assume you’re answering the bottom question.
that should be ok.
How fast do they drive a car at the emissions testing stations?
I tried to search this and got nothing. Thanks for any info you know.
I’m talking about miles per hour
It is a computer regulated course that varies speed and tops at 55MPH. ( the speed limit when the law was enacted)

my car is exempt from emissions testing so I removed my Cat converter. What’s legality of this?
I want to know if I could be fined or harassed by cops because I don’t have a catalytic converter on my car (classic Mustang) The car is exempt from emissions testing because of its age.
I was thinking about making a sticker advertising the fact that my car is a high polluter and insult tree hugging environmentalist types (Such as "My car may look green on the outside, but it puts out more pollution than an oil refinery and 200 times what your gay prius does."). If I were to do this and a cop did a visual check of my exhaust (far from stock) and he/she noticed I really don’t have a Catalytic converter could I be fined? Or am I okay because my car is exempt from testing?
The car is registered as an antique in the state of Connecticut.
"wiseorno" isn’t very wise. He obviously doesn’t know that cat converters weren’t put into cars till the late 70s/early 80s cars in the USA. Even later for Light trucks.
No, you can’t be fined for it, but you will create other problems for yourself if you are smug about it. If you act like a smart-azz, they’ll find some other reason to harass you, or watch you till you mess up. Keep a low profile. It’s cheaper that way. BTW, I hate tree huggers too….
Vehicles are grandfathered in because of factory production depending on the year. My 61 Pontiac doesn’t have seat belts, because they weren’t offered or standard equipment in 61. They can’t give me a ticket for not wearing a belt in that car. They can however, in my 07 Suburban, because it’s standard equipment. Custom made vehicles [like a kit car] will not be street legal unless it complies with all current rules, like turn signals, bumpers, emissions, etc. Your car was a factory model originally, so you’re all right.
Emissions testing question…details for your advice? See last question?
Here are the results
94 Dodge intrepid 3.5 liter
Passed CO
Passed NOx
Failed Hydrocarbons (HC)
Standard 0.9000 gpm tested 2.2372 gpm
This failed, but the shop said there was nothing wrong with the car. They said to drive it around to "clean the engine". Is this correct advice? I can’t afford to fail again, thanks so much.
Add the CRC carbon cleaning additive to your fuel tank and you’ll pass for sure next time:

Does emission testing take into account MPG or distance traveled while burning? ?
I have just read that many cars in Europe get well over 60 mpg. Specifically the Smart ForTwo gets 82 mpg. The high MPG model Smart car is not available in the US because it does not pass our emissions. In the US the Smart car only gets 32/40 MPG. I have trouble believing that burning twice the fuel to get somewhere is better for the environment. Does emission testing take into account the MPG or distance traveled while burning?
its all about the gases that it creates when it burns. not how much fuel it burns. if MPG were taken into consideration and if that smart car was illegal, then hummers wouldn’t even exist lol
the reason why that smart car doesn’t pass is because it uses the old dirty type diesel. it creates more emissions that creates smog and greenhouse gases.
but newer more refined diesels are here and is already changing that. if you use the more refined diesel, it will greatly reduce emissions without affecting MPG.
