Emissions testing in Arizona?

Posted by admin on June 4th, 2011 and filed under emissions testing | 1 Comment »

Are there any rural areas or small towns in Arizona that don’t require emissions testing like they do in Phoenix, Tucson, etc? My car had always had problems passing emissions in the past but now my car is completely modified with a different engine and transmission. The car runs great but the check engine light will forever remain on as the car went from automatic to manual transmission. Emissions testing is coming up and I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to give up the car…. any suggestions?

If you live in Maricopa, Pinal or Pima counties you are required to have your vehicle emissions tested. If you live in another county but commute to one of these counties, you must have your vehicle emissions tested. Get your car fixed or move to a county where emissions testing is not required. There’s no way around it.

Anyway i can pass emissions testing without a catalytic converter?

i bought a car without cats,(i know i need them for emissions) im curius as to if theres any way for me to cheat or avoid the emissions test for inspection. i have a 99T/A in brunswick county, nc 28451

with diesels you pretty much can, with petrol’s you have to basically find a garage that’s willing to pass you on a m.o.t regardless of the emissions. its not what you know its who you know

Can you get an emissions test in Illinois if your Check engine light is on?

I was told that if your check engine light is on that you cant not get an emission test done in Chicago. My check engine light is currently on. I was told I need a new 02 sensor.

My car seems to be running fine but the check engine light is on. Would it be a waste of time to take it to the emission testing place?

i know that here in CA, that is a visual fail, before they even drive it in. that light is on for one of so many reasons and most of them are emission control related. pull the codes and see what the problem is. it could be a simple loose gas cap.

Northern VA requires emissions testing. Can one register a car parked elsewhere in VA?

As most who live here know, to register a car in Northern Virginia it must first pass emissions. If someone wants to buy a car out of state and has a domicile in both Northern Virginia and elsewhere in Virginia, can one simply register it in the part of Virginia that does not require emissions?

Any input is most appreciated.

I have been inspecting vehicle in Texas and its the same in all states, to do this the vehicle needs to be registered in the town where you get your mail "BUT" doing this will create a conflict when its time to re-register the vehicle plus driving it in and around Virginia you will be ticketed as well..

I have an old 1997 Ford Escort LX with maintanence problems that is going on for quite a while. As I really need to get a new car, I want to sell off this old car I have. If I fail the emission test (Which I would get 2 months to fix the car and go again for the test) and get another new car and sell the old car before the next emission and without repairing, would I be responsible for the old car as per law?

Not if you get the buyer to sign an agreement that the car is purchased without warranty of any kind as to merchantabilty - as is, where is. Private sellers are held to a lower standard than licensed dealers.

This is for a Connecticut driver.

They’re exempt, but must maintain all their emissions equipment regardless.

And you could have looked it up, yourself. Took 5 seconds.
