My uncle left his car in my possession and told me to renew his tabs. But to do that, I need to get an emissions test. I currently don’t have a license, but will they ask for it when I bring it to get an emissions test?
call them and ask.
Will they ask for my driver’s license when I go get an emissions test in Washington?
Do i have to get an emissions test in GA?
I passed an emissions test last year and I am renewing my tags. Can i use my old emissions test or do I have to get a new one?
The online payment version doesn’t require any documents so maybe going in person doesn’t either.
You will need a new one. Here is the pertinent information fro Georgia’s Clean Air Act. r
Your vehicle must be tested every year prior to its registration date (the vehicle owner’s birthday). For registration in 2011, the three most recent model years are exempt from emission testing, which includes 2009 or newer model year vehicles.
Vehicles 25 model years or older are exempt. For registration in 2011, this includes model years 1986 or older. The registration renewal insert provides information regarding registration renewal.
Test early. GCAF recommends having your vehicle inspected four to six weeks prior to the registration renewal date. Vehicles can be tested well in advance if the driver of the vehicle will be out of the area at the time of registration. As a reminder, an emission inspection is valid for 12 months or one registration renewal, by the same owner. r
How to turn off the check engine light in order to pass the Vehicle Emissions test.?
My vehicle emission test is due, however my check engine light is on. I know what it’s for, it’s nothing of extreme importance, I just don’t have the money to fix it. Is there anyway I can turn it off myself or have someone do it for free or cheap as possible? Just until I get the test done so I can pass. My car is a 2000 Hyundai Accent.
Good luck with that - no reputable repair shop would do that for you
Do you have to get an emissions test in Miami, FL?
I live in a place where the State requires a safecty inspection (lights, horn, tires, brake, etc etc) and the county requires an Emissions test ( hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide checks). I plan on moving to Miami ,Florida and wanna know the procedure to register my vehicle there. DO they require any smog or safety inspections down there?
haha, nope, there are no inspections here..welcome to Florida. In Miami you can do all your driving business through the DMV or independent "Tag Agencies" who charge a small fee for their services..when you initially register your vehicle, someone will come out and do a visual walkaround and thats it..then renew your registration every year.
If I remove the insides of my Catalytic Converter will I fail my emissions test?
All the bits in side my catalytic convert are rattling around. Has any one evr taken these out and passed an emission test afterwards?
I know this is probably in contravention of traffic regulation 4 chapter 17.8, sub paragraph dooda. I just want to know if any one has tried it.
A few extra bits of info:
The car is a diesel.
It is in the UK (England)
It was built in 2003.
It has Eghaust Gas recirculation.
I have just spoke to a professional mechanic, and he assures me that removing the insides of the cat will not make the car fail its emissions test. With a diesel, it tests for smoke which apparently is unaffected by the lack of a cat.
As is the case with most automotive questions, the vehicle you have may make a difference. And in the case of emissions questions, where you live as well (many smog regulations are specific to a metro area or county).
Most pre-OBD-II cars are tested with a sniffer. You might conceivably have a chance of passing if that’s the case. I once had a 1967 vehicle that was able to meet specs for 1976 vehicles on a sniffer test at school.
But most OBD-II cars (the vast majority currently on the road) in most jurisdictions, will be subject to a "plug and play" test, and it’s highly unlikely you could pass that. The lack of change in Oxygen levels between the pre- and post-Cat O2 sensors will give you away.
That’s the best answer you’re gonna get, given the limited amount of information you’ve presented.
Will driving my car 1 hour at highway speeds increase the chance of passing the emissions test?
Doing this immediately prior to the emissions test, ofcourse. They also have a bottle of "guaranteed pass" I can buy at CDN tire. Does this help?, or am I just wasting my money and time with both of these tactics?
the hwy. trip will blow out a lot of "build up"from city driving, and warm up every thing. A lot of cars fail from sitting in line waiting for the test. Exhaust build up ,etc. There are" no mechanics in a can" .
Can I pass the emissions test if the check engine light goes off by itself?
I’ve had the check engine light on for a while and my emissions test is coming up. The codes say it is because of emissions problems. For some reason the light goes off when the temperatures drop and it stays off for the whole winter. Since it is cooler now, the light went off again by itself. Is there a chance I can pass the emissions test? I have a 98 nissan sentra.
Thanks
Unfortunately when the light comes on it also sets a pre-existing condition code in the computer system. This will become apparent when the smog tech hooks your car up to the test equipment. You may be able to get the code cleared by driving the vehicle for about 30 minutes with the light NOT coming on, then take it to the smog place and DO NOT turn the engine off. Have them pre-test it first. They will then be able to tell you if it will pass.
How many times can you fail an emissions test in Illinois?
I failed the emissions test in june and i need to get my car repaired by the end of july. i dont have the money but the check engine light is off and my mother insists on goin in to take the emissions test again and see if they will give us an extension on the date it needs to pass….if it fails again which i know it will…im just wondering if there is a penalty for failing it a second time.
take a chance and bring the car in and slip the guy 20 dollars and am sure you will pass good luck
Cracked piston ring causing failed emissions test?
I’ve been failing emissions tests and after extensive diagnostics the shop found low compression on one cylinder which improves when putting a little oil in the top of the cylinder, which apparently indicates a cracked ring. I need to pass the emissions test to licence the vehicle and will do the repair but preferably not right now $$$. Is there an oil additive that would minimize oil getting past the rings to the combustion chamber causing my high HC readings? Or anything else I could do temporarily.
well that sucks and since it is not going to go through emissions until its fixed, and the fact is it will be a gross polluter until you fix it. This is one of those things you do not mention make or model, I know on an american car I would be tempted to put straight 50 wieght race oil and a quart of lucas stabilizer in the crank case to try to pass emissions, but this may not work either, and a 4 cylinder probably will not run with 50 weight like a v8 would. That is a tough one, you may have to have a shop pull the engine and fix the problem, what else can you do.? best of luck
will a car pass emissions test in Washington with a non functioning obd system but with the cat still there?
In other words, do they have to do the obd test, or can they do the test where they test your exhaust directly?
The OBD test is based on the year of the vehicle.
1996 and newer are tested from the OBDII connection and not by the emissions coming from the pipe.
OBDII vehicles have sensors that adjust everything to the right amounts to run near stoichiometric amounts. They also factor in engine temperature, ambient air temperature and atmospheric pressure to give the right amount of fuel for the air mass entering the engine.
Before 1996 vehicles had sensors to adjust fuel amounts to give the right amounts to run best but not to cause the cleannest emissions possible.
Even pre ‘96 vehicles must not have a "check engine" light on to pass. But if you have a pre ‘96 vehicle and it is running clean enough to pass you could take the light bulb out and they wouldn’t know the difference.
