How does air pollution cause lung cancer?

Posted by admin on July 10th, 2010 and filed under air pollution | 2 Comments »

Okay so I know that smoking destroys your cilia on your epithelial tissue. So knowing that can you give me a detailed explanation of how air pollution causes lung cancer.

For example:
Air pollution causes lung cancer because the particles are trapped iin the lung and become infected with cancer.

Now I know that isnt the answer.
Thanks soooo much for your help.

A poor environment is a RISK factor but to say it CAUSES lung cancer is over simplistic.

From what I know, carcinogenic substances increase the risk of cell mutations - possibly leading to abnormal tissue growth and then cancer.

How to stop the abnormal air pollution on water?

I need the essay of "How to stop the abnormal air pollution on water" in about 250 words please give me as soon as possible.

If you want to help keep our waters clean, there are many things you can do to help. You can prevent water pollution of nearby rivers and lakes as well as groundwater and drinking water by following some simple guidelines in your everyday life.

Conserve water by turning off the tap when running water is not necessary. This helps prevent water shortages and reduces the amount f contaminated water that needs treatment.
Be careful about what you throw down your sink or toilet. Don’t throw paints, oils or other forms of litter down the drain.
Use environmentally household products, such as washing powder, household cleaning agents and toiletries.
Take great care not to overuse pesticides and fertilisers. This will prevent runoffs of the material into nearby water sources.
By having more plants in your garden you are preventing fertiliser, pesticides and contaminated water from running off into nearby water sources.
Don’t throw litter into rivers, lakes or oceans. Help clean up any litter you see on beaches or in rivers and lakes, make sure it is safe to collect the litter and put it in a nearby dustbin.

What is causing air pollution in Japan and what is being done about it?

Posted by admin on May 16th, 2010 and filed under air pollution | 2 Comments »

Please list a few things that cause air pollution in japan and what is being done about it i really need help!!!

Japan used to have serious air pollution issues due to industrialization, but thanks to stict laws and public awareness of environmental issues, air pollution in Japan has gone way down compared to 20 or 30 years ago.

The biggest problem now is "yellow sand" that gets blown from China. These are fine grain sand particles that originate from the Gobi Desert located in the western part of China. The sand is very fine and can easily travel by wind across China, and in the process various toxins attach itself to these sand particles as they pass through China’s industrial regions.

These sand particles tend to get blown beyond the Sea of Japan and fall onto mainland Japan, causing a yellow haze in the atmosphere (sometimes making it difficult to see clearly), as well as resperatory problems for people who inhale these particles.

I have to write a 6-8 page problem/solution paper on air pollution and its effects on humans, the environment, and financial problems that it causes. I feel that although I have done a substantial amount of research on the subject, I am going to fail to meet the page length requirements. What else can I include/ discuss in my paper in order to make it long enough?

Why would it be good to stay out of areas with high air pollution levels?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under air pollution | 1 Comment »

In some cities, citizens are advised to avoid heavy outdoor exercise when air pollution levels are high. Why would it would it be wise to do that?

In heavy exercise, one breathes more heavily. When air pollution levels are high, heavy breathing tends to get more of the pollution into your lungs. Especially when outside. Some pollution tends to stick in the moist air passages of the lungs. I’ve heard of at least one case where a doctor told a nonsmoker to give up smoking because his lungs had tar and gunk in them from the city’s pollution.
