What are some historical causes of air pollution in china?

Posted by admin on October 31st, 2010 and filed under air pollution | 5 Comments »

I need some historical events that would contribute to the mass amount of air pollution in China today.
For example the boost of population in the 16th century causes the government to focus on the economy rather than enviromental degradation.

"boost of population in the 16th century"…… what? You do know all of modern China’s pollution came into existence after heavy industrialisation beginning around the 1970s, right?

Ancient, even medieval China was largely an agrarian nation (a.k.a a nation largely producing food), what serious pollution comes from planting cabbage? Today’s China is an industrialised nation, dependant on foreign trade and mass-producing products, from factories that emit large amounts of pollution.

Historically China never polluted on such a scale as today. In fact, most of the world’s pollution came from the industrialisation era, what with the smog-filled slums of London and all.

16th century??? Where did you get that?

It was late when Carorra had finished working in her mothers garden. For hours she had picked up apples that had fallen to the ground, her mother said that she was going to make apple jam, and so she needed as much apples as she could get. Carorra had gathered up two full baskets of the red apples. She had eaten a few of them in the process of the gathering, but she could not object to another juicy red apple. Placing both baskets on the green grass that was freshly cut, Carorra picked an apple to her liking. The apples weren’t very big, in fact they were pretty small. She took a big bite and chewed slowly, enjoying the sweet and bitter taste of the fruit.

Good but a bit wordy and unstructured.
As someone’s already pointed out, it should be "mother’s garden" and "as many apples".
You use ‘apple(s)’ 3 times in one sentence, and you don’t need to say "for hours" as you’ve already said that it was late when she stopped working, suggesting that she’d been working for a long time.
I think you should think about the placement of the sentences. "Carorra had gathered up…" could be put after the first sentence, with "that had fallen to the ground" on the end. A semi colon would link in the jam "her mother wanted to make jam" So the whole thing would read "She had gathered two full baskets of red apples that had fallen to the ground; her mother wanted to make jam."
"She had eaten…" could be cut, and you use too many adjectives; "on the green grass that was freshly cut," It sounds better (to me) as "on the freshly cut grass".
Instead of saying "…, in fact they were rather small" You could describe them a bit more, adding in a bit more information other than size, because both parts of the sentence say the same thing.
These are only suggestions ;)

Why would it be wise to avoid heavy outdoor exercise when air pollution levels are high?

Posted by admin on October 21st, 2010 and filed under air pollution | 1 Comment »

In some large cities, citizens are advised to avoid heavy outdoor exercise when air pollution levels are high. Explain why it would be wise to heed such a warning.

Air pollutants can adversely affect lung function. Ground level ozone, and other oxidants and pollutants can damage lung tissue, and/or interfere with you getting enough oxygen into your body.
People with already compromised respiratory systems (asthma, COPD, etc.) are at increased risk of being incapacitated.
Exercising outside raises respiration and increases the adsorption of harmful gases and particulate matter. Such things are not good for your body.

Ipod Classic, Big Red X not letting me do anything?

Posted by admin on October 18th, 2010 and filed under red apple falls | 1 Comment »

Ok so I have had my 120GB Ipod for 2 years now and after a rough night of a party (where it may have gotten a little crushed in my pocket but not falling apart or hearing any rattling inside) i turned it on to find it not playing any songs, I decided to do the Menu Select trick to reset it but it came up with a big red X telling me to visit the apple site.
I visited said site to find no methods working as no matter what I try it still does th Big Red X and will not let it connect to the computer, there is also some alarm beeping coming from within the Ipod itself.
I am contemplating buying a new one because it simply turns off when the Red X is left for too long and it is pretty much out of battery now, and charging probably wont help it. Any suggestions?

Hi. It means there is a fault with the hardware / disk meaning you will need to get it repaired by Apple. To do this, you can visit the ‘Genius Bar’ at your local Apple Store or Authorised Apple Reseller.

It costs a lot, unless you have AppleCare.

Air quality standards are the maximum allowable amounts of various pollutants. The federal government and some?

Air quality standards are the maximum allowable amounts of various pollutants. The federal government and some state governments issue these standards. Find and state the current standards that have been issued by the EPA. find the amount of pollutants in a city outside the United States. How do these values compare with the current EPA standards?

use perhaps the Riemann’s dzeta function

How to test air quality in workspace?

Posted by admin on October 13th, 2010 and filed under air quality | 2 Comments »

I have a small office in a building full of artists, musicians etc… The office has a very strong smell to it. It almost smells like very strong crayons. I would like to test the air quality in the space. I feel as though there might by some noxious fumes coming from somewhere.
Any recommendations on how to test the air quality for pollutants? No need to test for allergens.

This is a stretch, but OSHA requires all work places to keep a list of chemicals and their hazards on site. This location sounds like a school and I doubt you will find the HAZMAT sheets on site, but you could contact Windsor Newton and any other artist paint manufacturers for the hazard sheet on their product. The toxic paint thinners of old have been replaced with newer stuff with less fumes. Walk around the studios and check the labels. You may find they need ventilation when used. Clay would also have an odor. I personally love that smell. Just about any diverse art center has it. Your other option would be to hire a safety engineer to check your work space. Radon testers and carbon monoxide detectors are the only air quality testers I have seen for the general public.

Why don’t my Apple iPhone earphones fit in my ears?

Posted by admin on October 10th, 2010 and filed under red apple falls | 1 Comment »

They don’t fit, when I try, they either fall out or when I take them out, my ears hurt so much they turn red. I can’t stand it! I think they are such a horrible design. They are made of hard plastic, horrible things.

Has this ever happened to you? Why is this?

This is because the are not earplugs they are ear phones. the design is much traditional. Now a days you are getting the earplugs (like Sony Ericsson’s) with less price. Choose the set which offers you to adjust the size of the plug

Try these model they easily fit into your ear

Makeup for a knee length apple red dress?

I am going to a fall wedding and I need help with make-up! I have big brown eyes, medium length brown hair and olive skin

Here is the dress:

-(in the first color apple)
Easy 10 points! Thanks

well at time is the wedding? for a morning reception its best to use lighter colours.but since u have brown eyes and brown hair and if you are daring :) you can try out some darker shades. use a dark brown+black or light brown+black eye shadow at the corner of the eye. and below ur eyebrow use a metallic silver or bronze.

use a hint of bronzer if u like and also some blush as well(really fair skin-pinkish blush , tan skin-brownish pink blush)

use lots of mascara and use a eye lash curler.BUT remember NOT to over do. too much is not going to be nice at all.

go light with the lips.since the eyes are highlighted alot.

and um ya thats about it i guess. oh and use concealer or something to cover up any blemishes, spots or whatever.

hope i helped :)
