I’ve been failing emissions tests and after extensive diagnostics the shop found low compression on one cylinder which improves when putting a little oil in the top of the cylinder, which apparently indicates a cracked ring. I need to pass the emissions test to licence the vehicle and will do the repair but preferably not right now $$$. Is there an oil additive that would minimize oil getting past the rings to the combustion chamber causing my high HC readings? Or anything else I could do temporarily.

well that sucks and since it is not going to go through emissions until its fixed, and the fact is it will be a gross polluter until you fix it. This is one of those things you do not mention make or model, I know on an american car I would be tempted to put straight 50 wieght race oil and a quart of lucas stabilizer in the crank case to try to pass emissions, but this may not work either, and a 4 cylinder probably will not run with 50 weight like a v8 would. That is a tough one, you may have to have a shop pull the engine and fix the problem, what else can you do.? best of luck

It’s just west of the intersection of 141 South and Manchester. I’ve been taking all of my cars there for years. Open Saturdays, and also evenings until, I believe, 7PM.

Someone told me that Original cars have pollution and Hybrid cars don’t have that. How could Hybrid cars not give off air pollution?

Hybrid cars produce less pollution, but they do produce some when the gasoline engine is running.

So Ive had a wart on my upper thigh for about a year, i have tried everything to get rid of it, nothing worked. The I heard on Doctor Oz about putting apple cider vinegar on your wart. So I researched it and it has had great reults for people so ive decided to try it. I soak a cotton ball in acv put it on the wart, old it in place with a bandaid and leave it for the night. Im on my 6th night and my wart has now started to look like an open sore.. Im getting a little worried cuz so many people said there turned black and just fell off, mine has not turned black, like I said its red with like a white rim around it and kind of open in the middle…had anyone else tried this and had a similar result? They said some people it takes a little longer??

Have you thought that you’re trying to dissolve away cancer?

What a beautiful poem. This poem is more than acceptable it’s wonderful. Don’t let the views of critiques dissuade your poetic voice, commit to your style and speak louder. I never give false praise, and I never let what someone else thinks, determine what I think, well at least not with poetry. And with poetry, if you reach one person that likes what you have done then you can be assured there are many more who feel the same.

Okay, so we all know that argument.
But my question is, does the tree literally make a sound? Independent of the observer, does it produce a noise as we know it, or is it just vibrating waves or whatever?

And regarding sight: I asked someone if color as we perceive it is a property of reality (example, an apple appears to be red, independent of an observer), and he said yes. Is this true? I thought it was false.

Philosophically speaking, the question has nothing to do with psychoacoustics; it is a philosophical riddle.

George Berkeley was an early 18th-Century philosopher, - and the phrase "Esse est percipi" ("To be is to be perceived"), is an edict of his ‘Immaterialism’ theory.
Berkely’s ‘Immaterialism’ waxes upon the metaphysical notion that objects may only exist when something perceives them and it from this philosophy which the oft asked question, "If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is there to hear it - does it make a sound?", is rooted in (if you’ll pardon my play on words).

Berkeley’s ’subjective idealism’ has since been entertained by a number of academicians, - and has helped spawn other interesting, and more complex, theories on perceptive realities.

Whether color is an OBJECTIVE quality (the apple is red because it actually IS red), - or a SUBJECTIVE one (the apple is red because my mental disposition interprets its color as being red) still wouldn’t render the apple ‘unreal’ to an observer of it. Lacking an observer, however, we are faced, yet again, with another type of ‘If a tree falls in the forest…?’ riddle; again with realist vs. nominalist perceptions of reality.

I bought ten this month, and two of them were only an empty box. Anyone else have this problem? I worry that I won’t be able to return exchange them, because I can’t prove that they were empty, since I opened them.

I have not had this problem with the opk’s at dollar tree but at walmart I had this problem with a movie before, I bought it and went home to open an empty case! I was not happy took it back and explained it to the women and they just exchanged it for me. i would say call the phone number on the box to let the Corporation know the boxes were empty, and then depending on what they say I would take the boxes back to the dollar tree. If they give you a problem about it, explain what happened and tell them the tests were only a dollar and it coast more in gas to get there and you thought they should know what was going on, and how unhappy you were with this! In other words, do they have to do the obd test, or can they do the test where they test your exhaust directly?

The OBD test is based on the year of the vehicle.
1996 and newer are tested from the OBDII connection and not by the emissions coming from the pipe.
OBDII vehicles have sensors that adjust everything to the right amounts to run near stoichiometric amounts. They also factor in engine temperature, ambient air temperature and atmospheric pressure to give the right amount of fuel for the air mass entering the engine.

Before 1996 vehicles had sensors to adjust fuel amounts to give the right amounts to run best but not to cause the cleannest emissions possible.
Even pre ‘96 vehicles must not have a "check engine" light on to pass. But if you have a pre ‘96 vehicle and it is running clean enough to pass you could take the light bulb out and they wouldn’t know the difference.
